Tyler has been on numerous tours around North America, South America, and Europe, where his drumming is a popular staple at many jazz festivals, clubs, and concerts. In 2009, Tyler was nominated for the
Galaxie Rising Star Award of Radio Canada &
General Motors Grand Jazz Award at Festival International de Jazz de Montreal. His debut jazz album entitled
Shadows of a Brighter Day received rave reviews, and was selected for a National Jazz Compilation
Dig Your Roots.
Tyler has performed with such artists as; Bob Mintzer, Ingrid Jensen, Wycliffe Gordon, Frank Mantooth, Alain Caron, Randy Brecker, Eric Marienthal, Tom Harrell, Jiggs Whigham, Irvin Mayfield, James Carter, Brad Goode, Chip Stephens, Hugh Fraser, Tommy Banks, PJ Perry, Shelly Berg, Ralph Bowen, Maciek Grzywacz, Maciej Sikala, Piotr Lemanczyk, Pat Bianchi, John Gunther, Ken Walker, Phil Dwyer, Mike Murley, David Braid, Joel Miller, and Campbell Ryga.
After completing his Masters in Jazz Performance/Pedagogy (2006) from the University of Colorado (Boulder), Tyler has served as composer and musical director for several shows, including U of C 'Why Dance? Two the Power of One', Mainstage 'Senses', 'Sex Over 40', and 'More Rocky Mountain Fairy Tales'.
In addition to having a busy performing schedule Tyler teaches for the Mount Royal University Jazz Program and has given workshops and clinics around the world, including Germany, Poland, Italy, Venezuela, and USA, as well as being the founder and director of the Drumset Educational Camp held at Mount Royal University each summer.
Tyler will be releasing two new albums in 2010,
