Toronto Jazz Singer Rita Di Ghent to Serenade Calgary Audiences

Double-bill with Calgary jazz vocalist Glennis Houston

Calgary audiences are in for a treat on Friday, August 5th, 2011, when Rita Di Ghent brings her million-dollar voice to the BeatNiq Jazz & Social Club. Sharing the evening with her is popular long-time Calgary jazz singer Glennis Houston. The two song-birds will serenade Calgary with familiar jazz standards, blues, and whatever else they can come up with on the spot. They have the privilege of working with Calgary musicians Sheldon Zanboer on piano, Simon Fisk on bass, and Robin Tufts on drums. Both women are PhD students at York University in Toronto, and are collaborating to bring their knowledge and love of jazz to others who wish to learn the art of singing jazz by doing full-day workshops on August 6 & 7, 2011.
